The verge is the edge of the roof at the gable. On older roofs it is sealed with mortar, which cracks and falls out over time. On this job the gable edges were upgraded to a mechanically fixed dry verge system.

Why mortar verges fail

Mortar at the verge takes the worst of the wind and rain. Over time it cracks, falls out in chunks and lets the verge tiles loosen. Falling mortar onto paths and cars is often the first sign.

A dry verge system replaces the mortar with interlocking caps fixed to the battens, so there is nothing left to crumble.

A neat, low-maintenance edge

Dry verge gives a clean, even line up each gable and holds the edge tiles mechanically in high winds. It is a common upgrade during a re-roof or a standalone repair.

The customer on this job noted the attention to detail and quality materials used.
