Newly fitted fascia, soffit and half-round guttering at the eaves of a house

Guttering, fascias and soffits

New uPVC or aluminium guttering, fascia and soffit replacement, and repairs to leaking joints and downpipes.

The problem

Blocked or broken guttering is behind more damp walls than any roof fault. Water that should run to the drain instead runs down the render, saturates the wall and rots the timber fascia the gutter is fixed to.

Guttering is the cheapest roofing work you can have done and the easiest to put off. It is also the thing most likely to be quietly causing damage right now.

If the fascia and soffit are still solid timber and just need painting or a bracket here and there, we will tell you that. If they have gone soft, capping over rot with plastic traps the moisture — we strip it back to clean timber first, sort the eaves ventilation, then fit the new boards.

What the job involves

  1. Clear the existing gutters and run water through to find the leaks
  2. Where fascias are sound, replace failed brackets, unions and lengths of gutter
  3. Where the timber behind has rotted, strip back to the rafter feet
  4. Fit new fascia and soffit board, with eaves ventilation and a felt support tray
  5. Hang new gutter to a true fall towards the outlets
  6. Renew downpipes and add a leaf guard where trees overhang
