Moss removal and roof cleaning
Careful moss clearing, gutter clearing and a proper inspection — without the high-pressure washing that damages tiles.
The problem
A thick moss mat holds water against the tiles, blocks the gutters when it sheds, and hides the slipped tiles underneath it. The damage is not the moss itself — it is what the moss is keeping wet and out of sight.
We do not jet-wash roofs. High-pressure water strips the protective surface off concrete tiles and forces water up under slates, and it takes years off the roof to make it look clean for one summer.
Hand clearing is slower and it is the right way to do it. The real value is the inspection afterwards — with the moss gone we can see the roof for the first time in years and tell you what actually needs attention.
What the job involves
- Scrape and brush the moss off by hand, working up the slope
- Bag and remove all of it — not left in the gutters or the garden
- Clear every gutter, outlet and downpipe it has washed into
- Inspect the roof properly now that the surface is visible
- Report any slipped tiles, failed pointing or flashing found underneath
- Apply a biocide treatment only if you want it, and explain what it does
